How to save money?

This post is not about how to get rich and wealthy - we have been creating other posts to discuss that topic - however, this can be an important step to get there. How to actually put some money aside in your day-to-day life to save it and use it for something that can make you wealthy.

I have created the following checklist for you in order to save some money that you can invest or spend it for something else. Sometimes we don't even realize our bad habits until it causes major problems. Let's avoid it.

  • Get rid of unnecessary spending habits that don’t serve you and start better ones.

  • Don’t waste food and other products.

  • Organize your stuff better, If you need to, so you can see it clearly what you have and what you really need. If everything is in its own place, you don't forget about it.

  • Track your spending. You can use great apps for this purpose. A few examples are: Fast Budget, iSaveMoney, MoneyManager. You can also use your own styled Excel table for this purpose. Whichever option is easier for you. The main point is, don't lose control over your money; your income and spending.

  • It's for your health as well: walk instead of taking the bus or metro for 2 stops or driving to the end of the street. You can also use bicycle.

  • Prepare food and cook at home.

  • Really use these tips, motivate yourself, think about how much money you can save that you can use for something better than just waste it. Think about a goal that you would like to spend your money on.

  • Please, please, please, don’t use anything that ruins your health, because in the long term it will take too much time, energy and money to eliminate the negative effects that they have caused.

  • Use your loyalty and benefit cards every time you can, and don’t forget them at home.

Loyalty Cards can save you much money as you get back points, cash and discounts for your loyalty and after purchases in particular stores and shops. It is a way from the businesses of giving back to loyal customers who spend much in their stores and also a method of marketing which you can benefit from. You can use cards or mobile apps for this purpose.

Here is a list of companies and brands that offer loyalty cards and great discounts. A lot of them are in the United Kingdom, because I live here and I'm more up-to-date about how things go here, but I will make research on the topic in other countries, too. Also, if these companies operate in the country where you live, this list of information still can be relevant for you.

The main point is: watch out for discounts and rewards. Some of the shops, although, don't have any reward program, because they operate with regular low prices.

As I have said before, think about the long term, and pick the good quality and healthy, but if you can save money with your healthy choices that's the best option that you can ever choose.

 So here is the list:

Tesco:

Tesco has affordable meal deals and other offers, and you can save some money with your Tesco Clubcard as well. Beside the physical card you can download their app to your smart phone and track your points and deals there. You get more than 1 card for one account, therefor your family members or friends can also collect points for you if they are willing to. You can use the collected points for deals in other shops that listed in the app.

Nectar card:
You can collect points on your Nectar in many shops or websites, for example Sainsbury’s and DHL, Giff Gaff and you can use your reward in Sainsbury’s, Argos, EBay, Virgin Trains and Expedia.co.uk.
It’s good that we talked about surveys, because you can collect Nectar points for completing online surveys, too. For more information visit their website or download their app.

Iceland:
Iceland has very good offers and discounts anyway, but to save more money, you can get a bonus card in the shop and register it online. After every £20 they give back £1.

Boots
Boots that does not only operate as a pharmacy but have a wide range of healthcare and beauty products. Use physical loyalty card where you can collect your points, but I definitely suggest to download the application to your smartphone, so you're not only able to see your points and collect it in the app, but you can also load great offers to your card, so you can earn even more.

Holland & Barrett
You can collect points for rewards that you can spend at Holland & Barrett later.
Use the mobile phone application to follow the amount and discounts. You can order products in the app, as well.

If you are a coffee lover, like me:

Coffee shops:

Most of the coffee shops use stamp card and offer the 10th coffee free.
Pret A Manger and Wayne’s Coffee have organic coffee.
Coffee Republic and Caffe Nero also have nice coffee.

Nero has its own smartphone app and great offers.
You can get a voucher for a Free hot drink after you make your first purchase in the Caffe Nero app: nero.app.link/0WuwE1iH4X
You can claim your reward until 31/12/2019.

In case you prefer Costa, it uses a card as well, where you can get points and then use for future purchase.

Mobile Network
Giffgaff has been mentioned already (see Nectar card), but let's talk about it a bit more. Giffgaff is a mobile network owned by O2. It has great prices for packages with unlimited calls and messages. The monthly packages called Goodybags also contain Gigabites of internet on your phone.
What's more, after inviting your friends you and they are both able to get free credit on your phones.
I hope these little tips help you to save some money in your everyday life, stay tuned because I will continue with some info in banking.
